AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE .303 (BRIT.) 'NO.6 MKI/I' AUSTRALIAN TROOP TRIALS CARBINE, serial no. XP235,
dated 1945, 20 1/2in. nitro reproved barrel including flash hider (in 2008), block and blade fore-sight with side protectors, folding aperture rear-sight mounted to the rear of the receiver, graduated to 800 yards and marked with the Savage 'S', receiver ring marked 'MA VI.' and 'XP 235', butt-stock collar marked on the right side 'M.A. LITHGOW. S.M.L.E. III*. 1945.', manual safety, detachable box magazine, the lifter marked '3 MA', halfstock with finger-grooved fore-end, the butt stock marked on the right 'MA 5/45', 13in. pull including brass buttplate with central trapdoor, canvas sling, squared bayonet lug, weight 7lb. 9oz.
