dated for 1885, with 33 1/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the nocksform stamped 'S-X', ordnance proofs, slab-sided receiver with make, model and crown device to right side, tear-drop cocking indicator, chequered thumb depression to rear of receiver, walnut butt-stock with 'BIRMINGHAM 1890' roundel over 'II.', shortened and re-lengthened with 'FORT WILLIAM' stamp and a farsi inscription, iron heel-plate and short under-lever, full-length fore-end (old filled repair forward of action) with two barrel-bands and swamped ramrod
