for 1902, 29 3/4in. nitro barrels, the ribs engraved 'F. BEESLEY. 2 ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON. PALL MALL CORNER' (rubbed), and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', the tubes engraved 'WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL' and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in all, carved leaf fences, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the lockplates with the characteristic crown and banner inscribed 'F. BEESLEY PATENT LONDON', retaining traces of colour-hardening and much renewed finish, 15 1/2in. figured replacement stocks with matching fore-end woods, weight 7lb., in their brass-cornered oak and leather case
