circa 1888, 25in. nitro reproved barrels (chambered to 20-bore and smoothbored from a rifle calibre, likely .450), raised partially file-cut rib engraved at the breech end 'METFORD PATENT, 302. GEORGE GIBBS, 29, CORN STREET, BRISTOL', folding leaf sights with white metal inlaid sight lines and marked for 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 yds, bead fore-sight, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke, Jones patent rotary underlever, carved serpentine fences, non-rebounding sidelocks with bolted hammers, sliding safety bolts operating on half-cock, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, 14 3/8in. pistolgrip stock with horn pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, sling eyes, fore-end with crosspin release and missing finial, weight 7lb. 7oz.
