for the end of 1871, with round blued 2 7/8in. barrel signed 'COLT'S HOUSE PISTOL HERTFORD CT. USA', moulded fore-sight and top-strap with sighting groove, brass frame (possibly originally nickel-plated), distinctive four-shot 'clover-leaf' cylinder, spur trigger, exposed hammer and smooth walnut birdshead grips, exposed iron surfaces with pitting
