28 1/8in. replacement nitro barrels (No.1), rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. GUNMAKERS. EDINBURGH.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, 27 7/8in. replacement nitro barrels (No.2), rib engraved 'J. DICKSON & SON. EDINBURGH.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, Dickson patent round-actions incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use numbers 407 and 408, toplevers engraved '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork and with the makers name in scrolling banners, No.2 repaired at knuckle, brushed finish overall, 14 5/8in. highly-figured stock including 1/2in. ebonite extension (No.1) and 14 3/8in. highly-figured stock including horn buttplate (No.2), the fore-ends inset in silver with '1' and '2', weight 6lb. 9oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 2oz. (No.2), in their brass-cornered oak and leather case with some accessories and gold-tooled red leather trade label with 63 Princes Street address

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed on 20th July 1892 for a D.G. Landale with 30in. barrels and that the guns were subsequently rebarrelled by them in 1950.

They were completed on the 20th July 1892 for D.G. Landale. David Landale was born in 1868 at Lockerbie in Dumfrieshire and was a member of the Legislative Council in Hong Kong. He was a businessman in Hong Kong and his residence in Scotland was Dalswinton, Dumfries.
