original 30in. nitro reproved barrels, ribs engraved 'BOSS & CO. 73 ST. JAMES'S STREET, LONDON.', and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. choke both (No.1) and true cyl. choke both (No.2), bore dimensions marginal, No.1 wall thicknesses below recommended minimum;
new 27in. nitro barrels (by the makers in 1978), barrel numbers 9797 / 8, ribs engraved 'BOSS & CO. 13/14 CORK STREET. LONDON. W.1.', and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, removable striker discs, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, Boss 1894 patent improved single triggers, rolled left edge triggerguards, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14in. highly-figured stocks including 7/8in. rubber recoil pads, weight 6lb. 10oz., in a lightweight leather motor case (currently fitted for the 27in. barrels, would adapt to fit the 30in.)
