for 1859, with octagonal 4in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'BEALS PATENT 1856 & 57 & 58, MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS' ILION, N.Y.', dove-tailed conical nickel fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, hinged under-barrel rammer with phosphur-bronze cylinder pin, plain cylinder of 1 5/8in, length, solid frame with capping notch, exposed single-action hammer and spur-trigger, chequered hard rubber grips (small chip in antiquity), cleaned of finish
