A RARE 14-BORE PATCHLOCK DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1828, possibly converted from flint, with browned wire-twist 29 3/4in. barrels, acanthus scroll engraving to the rib-end, inlet gold poincon marked 'LONDON' together with a single gold band at breech, Birmingham proofs and marked 'WIRE' to the underside of breech, border and foliage (inhabited with game birds) engraved flat locks, external flat-springs with rollers operating on hinged patch-covers (replaced), engraved slab-sided flat-nosed hammers (one replaced), chequered walnut half-stock with shallow raised cheek-piece, iron furniture including pistol-gripped raised trigger-guard tang and original ramrod, the whole with restoration and some refinishing
