A 25-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1780 with later conversion to percussion, fine damascus 40in. barrel carved with a raised sighting rib broken near breech with moulded acanthus foliage, traces of white metal inlays at breech, boat-shaped silver fore-sight, solid engraved top-tang, border engraved flat lock retaining vestiges of the pan, the frizzen replaced with a swinging bar to retain the cap running on a single exposed flat-spring with end roller (possibly originally converted to patchlock), the lock signed 'BURDA A BRUX.', hunting dog engraved to the tail, carved and chequered walnut half-stock (cut back from full), raised angular cheek-piece with carved detail (old inlet repair at comb), complex engraved iron butt-cap and sideplate, the pommel of wrist carved as a mask of a mythical beast, broad trigger-guard bow with front pillar, applied under-barrel thimble and replacement ramrod
