circa 1845, with blued octagonal 5 5/8in. barrel signed on the top-flat 'JOSEPH BOURNE', engraved band at muzzle, plunge rammer below the barrel, wedge barrel fastener, plain Birmingham proved cylinder with engraved band to leading edge, rounded scroll engraved action with engraved bar-hammer, finely chequered walnut grips guarded trigger and trap for caps in the heel, complete with a period oak English market case with retailer's label for 'W.T. Hancock & Co., London', the tray lined and compartmented in green baize and complete with a lozenge bodied flask, large cap tin, square oil bottle, scissors mould, turn-screw and loading or cleaning rod
