circa 1780, with banded cannon-muzzled 15 1/2in. barrel, the top of breech struck with London proofs and an 'R.W' below star maker's mark, plain iron top-tang, slightly radiused iron lock signed 'WHEELER & SON' below the pan (refreshed), pointed tail, walnut hand-rail full-stock (old cracks and repairs), plain serpentine brass sideplate, broad brass short-spurred brass heel-plate, brass lower tang and bow with ball finial, possible period horn-tipped ramrod
