circa 1894, with 4in. barrel signed on the raised sighting rib by the manufacturer and with patent dates to 1880, break-open frame with fluted cylinder, distinctive double locking notches, straw-coloured hammer, burnished trigger, smooth walnut grips inlet with 'S&W' monogrammed medallions and square-backed trigger-guard, the whole professionally refinished and in a later wood case lined in the continental fashion in green baize and complete with a cleaning rod and oil bottle
