AN EARLY 10-BORE FLINTLOCK BRASS-BARRELLED BLUNDERBUSS, registration number 2KS915,
probably for 'Kings County' (Offaly) and dated for 1740, with substantial octagonal to sixteen-sided to round 16in. barrel, the angular section with borderlines between all panels and with moulded angular band and an engraved band at breech, the top-flat signed 'DUBLIN' and marked with the registration number, plain trumpet muzzle, solid border engraved iron tang, heavily curved and radiused borderline engraved iron lock with pointed tail signed 'RANSFORD' and dated '1740', further signature 'DUBLIN' below the pan, bridleless frizzen, circular top-jaw, walnut handrail full-stock with carved apron around the top-tang and brass furniture, the borderline engraved short spurred heel-plate deeply struck with the same registration number, recumbent shaped radiused ribbon sideplate and original brass faced ramrod

Other Notes: Michael Ransford (sometimes 'Rainsford) traded at various address in Dublin but was contracted to supply military arms between 1720-1757
