THE MAJOR PARTS OF A 16-BORE SPANISH BARRELLED ENGLISH SPORTING GUN, DATED 1751, no visible serial number, with a 42 in. two stage octagonal to round barrel with punched decoration at breech and dated 1751 with gold bushed touchhole, the lock is missing, iron mounted walnut two piece takedown stock, the butt of attractive curved form with handrail wrist and carved with a shell motif around barrel tang, fitted with large stylised wrist escutcheon, at one time this was a full stocked gun with a takedown forend, then modified to half-stocked as fashions changed, rammer missing
