A CONTINENTAL .400 PERCUSSION SIDE-BY-SIDE BOXLOCK OVERCOAT PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number, circa 1840, probably French, with 3 in. steel turn-off barrels, lock with engraved scroll-work, Liege proof mark, slab-sided wooden grip, steel triggers and guard, worn, all metalwork with cleaned pitting, some deep, barrels frozen, grip with cracks and chips, action on left side loose and nipple broken, 7 3/4 in. overall
