UNSIGNED GERMAN 12-BORE 'ERNST KERNER PATENT' CONVERTED SIDELOCK NON-EJECTOR EX-DRILLING, no visible serial number, dated 1927, 26in. nitro reproved barrels (in 2023), the under barrel removed, the tubes engraved 'SPECIAL - GEWEHR - LAUF - STAHL.', and 'FRIED KRUPP AG - ESSEN -', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, treble-grip action with semi-clam shell side clips, incorporating Ernst Kerner-Suhl drilling hammer & trigger assembly patent no. 90036, use no. 115, manual side lever safety, cocking-indicators, triple lockwork, the sideplates operating the shot barrels and barrel cocking, the third lock mounted on a detachable triggerplate with sidelever cocking lever, set front trigger, horn triggerguard, profusely engraved with bold stylised acanthus scrollwork on a matt background, surrounding and invading woodland scenes of grazing roe and red deer, the underside engraved with the patent details, 14 1/4in. figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, sling-eyes, horn pistolgrip-cap, steel hinged ammunition trap engraved with acanthus scroll surrounding a woodland scene of a capercaillie, and marked 'S.
