A .580 FLINTLOCK TRAVELLING PISTOL, POSSIBLY SIGNED WIER, no visible serial number, circa 1810, with sighted octagonal 3 1/2 in. steel barrel with London proofs and indistinctly engraved, steel lock with engraved foliage decoration, possibly signed 'WIER', sliding safety, walnut stock with chequered grip, inset oval white metal escutcheon engraved with initials and inset white metal butt-cap with engraved sunburst, steel trigger-guard, steel captive rammer, functions correctly, barrel heavily cleaned with pitting, other steel pitted, stock cracks around throat pipe, 7 3/4 in. overall
