A 28 BORE DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN SIGNED KAYE, MANCHESTER CIRCA 1850,no visible serial number, with 31 1/2" skelp twist barrels engraved near the breech "KAYE MANCHESTER", and fitted with two rammer pipes, the fixed breech decorated with some acanthus scroll engraving, border decorated back-action locks with similar acanthus scroll engraving the hammers engraved engraved to match, the left hammer missing the spur, walnut half stock with chequered wrist and forend, the iron mounts including butt-plate, scroll trigger-guard and fore-pipe all engraved to match, complete with its original ebony loading rod, the barrels to a grey patina, the stock quite sharp. The maker was John Kaye of 68 Shude Hill Manchester in business circa 1844 to 1864.
