circa 1940, with 25 1/2in. slightly curved single-edged pipe-backed steel blade with copper mount to base, stamped and pierced sakura pattern guard to thin knucklebow, gilt brass foliate decorated back strap, Sakai Clan mon and same wire-work grip, scabbard clip; together with its nickel-plated steel scabbard with single suspension loop and brown leather field scabbard with laced throat, steel scabbard throat screw missing and rusting to the exposed tip of the chape, field scabbard worn with grazes and a 1 1/2in. circular tear, stitching solid, 35 1/2in. overall
