* F. JAEGER & CO. 12-BORE 'JAEGER'S RECORD PATENT' TOPLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 2255, circa 1915, 27 1/2in. (70cm) nitro barrels, file cut matt rib, gold-inlaid 'F. JAEGER & CO, SUHL, I/TH', the tubes gold-inlaid 'WITTENER EXCELSIOR-STAHL', and engraved with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech-ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, hold-open toplever, single-bite Franz Jaeger patent 18,810 applied for Sept 17th 1904 / DRP 1679 action, carved percussion fences, rebounding sidelocks with c-scroll hammers, fine acanthus scroll and floral bouquet engraving, the underside engraved 'SIMSON JAEGER VERSCHLUSS. JAEGERS-PATENT', retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 13 3/4in. figured stock including buttplate, fore-end with Deeley & Edge release catch and horn finial, sling swivels, weight 7lb. 1oz.
