A RARE 3.4 INCH FRENCH STUDDED ARMSTRONG SHELL WITH FRANCO-PRUSSIAN WAR CONNECTION, dated 1870, weight circa 8lb, with an attached brass plaque reading 'Siege of Paris / 1870-1871 featuring 12 zinc studs for riding a barrel with deep helical grooves (an idea developed by Sir William Armstrong), two studs stamped with 'LFE / 70'
