Product Details
A CASED RARE .380 (RIMFIRE) P. WEBLEY No.1 (1 1/2) REVOLVER, serial no. 27160,
circa 1881, with ovoid 3 1/8in. barrel, applied nickel crescent fore-sight, the top-trap with sighting groove and signed 'P. WEBLEY & SON, LONDON & BIRMINGHAM', the left side of barrel throat marked 'WEBLEY'S No1 38 RIM' with the winged bullet trademark lower down, pinched solid frame, plain five-shot cylinder with external ratchet locking, double action mechanism with spurred hammer and guarded trigger (action 'sticky'), chequered walnut grips with flat heel-plate and removable ejector-rod, retaining a good amount of original nickel-plated finish and in a period oak casing lined and compartmented in blue baize, complete with pewter oil bottle, turn-screw and cleaning-rod
Provenance: According to Bruce and Reinhart, in their volume 'Webley Revolvers', this revolver conforms to the 1 1/2 model in all but size and calibre. No.1 Models were produced and were known as 'the Pug', but cosmetically are different to this revolver in detailS such as grip-shape and hammer spur. Officially, 1 1/2 Models were only produced in .442 and .450 calibres, but as it is marked Webley's No1, may well be a version produced to a specific customer order (and also not to be confused with the R.I.C. No.1)
