A 10-BORE FLINTLOCK LEFT-HANDED CONTINENTAL MILITARY HOLSTER PISTOL, gun no. 27,
possibly a Swedish pattern 1738, with possibly shortened round iron 10 1/2in. barrel, applied brass boat-shaped fore-sight, moulded band at breech, squared flared solid top-tang with shallow sighting groove, radiused and curved plain left-hand lock with pointed tail with maker's mark partly concealed by the frizzen spring, swan-necked cock, semi rainproof pan, walnut full-stock with borderline engraved long-spurred brass bulbous butt-cap, moulded trigger guard, the inner face of bow marked 'P.A.3C. k No.27.', three-screw side-plate of non regulation form, brass nose-cap and replacement ramrod

Provenance: It is believed the Dragoons carried these pistols in pairs on the saddle, one right-handed, the other left
