25in. nitro barrels, matt Churchill ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2' and 'XXV', tubes with belemnoid stretches of acanthus scrollwork at the breech ends and engraved 'E.J. CHURCHILL (GUN MAKERS) LTD. ORANGE STREET. GUNWORKS. LEICESTER SQUARE. LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 choke in all, scalloped-back self-opening actions with slender fences, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, border and bold scroll engraving, the makers name inscribed in elaborate cartouches, the undersides with 'HERCULES FINEST QUALITY MODEL', double rolled-edge triggerguards, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 13 5/8in. well-figured stocks including 7/8in. rubber recoil pads, chequering with ornate bordering designs, weight 6lb. 6oz., in their lightweight leather double motor case with lightweight canvas outer

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were completed with 25in. barrels in July 1956 for Duchess Tamanes and delivered via her agent, Jose Maria Echereola.
