A 20-BORE (3IN.) 'ROYAL' SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 22629,
No.2 of a pair, 28in. replacement nitro chopperlump barrels (by the makers in 1998), the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. BRUTON STREET.' and the rib engraved 'THE "ROYAL"' and gold-inlaid '2' with a flash of scrollwork at the breech end, 3in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, toplever gold-inlaid '2', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking indicators, best bold 'Royal' scroll engraving, brushed bright and blued finish, 15 1/4in. figured replacement stock, weight 6lb. 9oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in 1903 as a 16-bore as No.2 of a pair. The pair were rebarrelled to 20-bore by them in 1998.
