original 26 1/2in. nitro barrels, rib gold-inlaid 'WESTLEY RICHARDS ENGLAND' and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored true cyl. in both, right bore dimension marginal;
extra 26 1/2in. nitro barrels (circa 1973), rib gold-inlaid 'WESTLEY RICHARDS ENGLAND' and '1', with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech ends, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke;
scroll-back treble-grip action incorporating J. Deeley and L.B. Taylor patent hand-detachable locks, patent no. 17731 of 28th July 1897 with improved 'lighter pull-off' modification, patent no. 10567 of 7th May 1907, use number 2862, hinged floorplate, L.B. Taylor patent semi-selective single trigger, patent no. 26659 of 17th November 1909, use number 390, triggerplate mounted selector switch with gold-inlaid 'L' and 'R' details, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, Westley Richards patent toplever engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT ONE TRIGGER', and with a brace of grouse, bold acanthus scroll engraving surrounding oval vignettes of pheasant and hound, the underside with a field scene of rabbits, the triggerguard with a hare, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 3/8in. figured stock including 7/8in. ebonite extension, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. 9oz. (original) and 6lb. 14oz. (new), in its case with provision for both sets of barrels
