A PAIR OF 18-BORE CANNON-BARRELLED FLAT-FRONT QUEEN-ANNE PISTOLS WITH GILDED MOUNTS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1755, with turn-off round 5in. banded barrels with cannon muzzles (frozen), the breech-blocks signed 'HEYLIN' within a crescent banner inscribed 'CORNHILL, LONDON', London proofs and Heylin's maker's stamp, sighting groove to the top-tang, border engraved flat-fronted radiused locks, 'L' shaped frizzen springs with feathered tails, walnut half-stocks with carved rococo shell aprons around the top-tangs, bulbous pommels and long-eared brass butt-caps with central grotesque masks (traces of gilding), brass rococo escutcheons to the wrists, pierced brass rococo sideplates and engraved brass trigger-guard bows and front-plates, all with traces of gilding, both pistols stained, one pistol with loss to wood below lock and at pommel, possible other faults to both
