A .300 (SHERWOOD) SINGLE-SHOT ROOK-RIFLE, serial no. 57185,
circa 1895, with blued octagonal tapering 26in. barrel, matted top-flat , the side flats at breech signed 'R. RAINE' and 'CARLISLE', dove-tailed bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, border and scroll engraved colour-hardened side-lever action (much colour remaining), automatic ejection, walnut butt-stock with capped chequered pistol-grip, iron heel-plate and chequered walnut splinter fore-end, much original finish remaining
