A .577 PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT CARBINE SIGNED 'TOWER', MODEL 'PATTERN 1856 ARTILLERY CARBINE', no visible serial number,
dated for 1858 and updated to 1861 specification by the fitting of a five-groove rifled 24in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, 600 yard ladder rear-sight, plain lock signed 'TOWER' and marked with the date and a Queen's crown to tail, walnut three-quarter stock with iron furniture, jag-ended iron ramrod and bayonet lug to the right side of muzzle, refinished throughout
