A FINE CASED 16-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1845, with browned twist-iron 30in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'HANSON, MAKER, DONCASTER', bead fore-sight, engraved bands to the colour-hardened breech, a black-cock engraved to the rib-end, engraved platinum plugs, scroll engraved colour-hardened top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action locks with dolphin-headed hammers (much colour remaining), chequered walnut half-stock, clipped corner rectangular white-metal escutcheon to wrist, blued iron furniture, the heel-plate spur with borderline and scroll engraving, the trigger-guard tang en-suite, and a hunting dog engraved to the bow, original brass mounted mahogany ramrod, the whole with much original finish and colour and appearing little-used; COMPLETE WITH its manufacturer's brass-cornered oak storage case, ring handle to the lid, parchment trade label to inside the lid, the interior lined and compartmented in blue baize and containing a period shot and powder flask, a T-shaped nipple-key and various sundry cleaning and loading requisites
