circa 1795 with later conversion to percussion via drum and nipple, with re-browned 31in. twist-iron barrels, the broad flat top-rib signed 'W. SMITH LONDON' (rubbed), quadruple gold bands at breech, silver bead fore-sight, carved and engraved raised floral decoration to the top-tang forming a sighting groove, border and scroll engraved bevel-edged curved step-tailed locks with inlet gold poincons signed 'W. SMITH LONDON' in raised letters, figured walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture including raised trigger-guard tang (engraving rubbed) and replacement brass mounted wood ramrod
