AN EXTREMELY FINE PAIR OF 46-BORE PERCUSSION SAW-HANDLED DUELLING-PISTOLS, serial no's. 2608,
circa 1825, with browned twist-iron 9in. octagonal barrels, the top-flats signed '25 SOUTH CASTLE STREET, LIVERPOOL', dove-tailed fore-sight blade with gold line, two further twin gold bands at breech along with engraved bands and shell engraving to the top, standing notch rear-sight to the fully scroll engraved top-tangs, engraved platinum vents, the snails with carved fences, border and scroll engraved back-action locks with sliding safes behind the scroll engraved hammers, the locks signed 'WILLIAMS & POWELL', figured walnut half-stocks with finely chequered saw-handle grips swelling at the heels and inlet with an engraved silver band, the pommels with carved gadrooned and domed terminals, single set triggers, blued engraved and finger-spurred trigger-guard bows, silver oval barrel key escutcheons and moulded fore-end tip, white-metal mounted ebony ramrods, both pistols retaining a remarkable amount of original colour and finish throughout
