AN EXTREMELY FINE 18-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT RIFLE, serial no. 2,
circa 1825, with swamped, browned twist-iron octagonal 30in. barrel, dove-tailed silver foresight, standing notch rear-sight with additional blued folding leaf, the top-flat of barrel signed in gold 'STOERMER HOFRUSTMEISTER', colour hardened breech-block with twin gold lines and engraved band, florally engraved top-tang, engraved fenced snail, border and floral engraved bevel-edged lock with rounded stepped tail, the lock signed in gold 'TANNER, HANNOVER', swinging two position hammer-block safety, florally engraved and carved dolphin headed hammer, horn tipped walnut full-stock with chequered half pistol-grip and moulded ramrod channel, gold oval escutcheon engraved with the monogram of George IV, carved and raised cheek-piece with inlet padded velvet covering, engraved blued and numbered heel-plate, engraved white-metal pommel-cap, double set triggers, triple silver escutcheoned barrel-keys and horn-tipped ramrod.
