possibly converted from flintlock circa 1840, with 10 3/4in. slightly swamped octagonal barrel, the top-flat signed in script 'J. B. STRIXNER IN WIEN', dovetailed fore-sight, elevating rear-sight to the top-tang, carved nipple fence with platinum vent, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'STRIXNER', dolphin headed hammer and corresponding side-plate signed 'IN WIEN', walnut half-stock with chequered panels to the grip, swollen butt-cap with rococo carved border, iron spurred trigger guard bow, set trigger and shell-carved fore-end tip with no provision for ramrods
