Original 30in. Whitworth-steel nitro chopperlump barrels, rib engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL.' and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke;
Extra 28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, rib engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.' and with '1' at the breech end, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. choke in both;
self-opening action with removable striker discs, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger, triggers set for the left hand, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 15 1/8in. boldly-figured stock, cast on for the left shoulder and including 1 1/4in. wooden extension, fore-end wood with insert repair at knuckle, weight 6lb. 13oz. (original barrels) and 6lb. 11oz. (extra barrels), in its brass-cornered oak and leather case with charges label (provision for one set of barrels only)

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed on 30th June 1920 for a Jeremie Porte Esq. The records also state the following:
Gold '1' in rib and lever (no note of pair gun)
Spring blade right trigger
Stock with 'JP' inlaid in gold
1920 - Stock shortened 1/4 in. at client's request
January 1923 - For sale at Vaughan's by W.S. Gibbings
July 1943 - Now belongs to F.E. Pegler, extra barrels fitted, choked Tight Cylinder & Modified
March 1966 - triggers turned, for H. Syme
November 1967 - extra barrels fitted, both 1/4 choke
