circa 1885, model 'Metropolitan Police', with octagonal 3in. barrel, the left side of barrel marked 'MALTBY, CURTISS & CO, NEW YORK, USA, PAT'D APR 23 78, AUG 28 83, FEB 26 84', model designation to top-flat, fluted cylinder, solid frame, florally embossed hard-rubber grips, the whole retaining virtually all its original nickel-plate, together with its manufacturers card carton, pasted label at one end and printed instructions to inside of lid (small losses and taped repair)
