A 40-BORE PERCUSSION TARGET-PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
probably Belgian circa 1845, with blued octagonal 10in. rifled barrel, the top-flat marked 'ACIER FONDU' (originally inlaid), bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, scroll engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved hump-backed lock with dipped tail, scroll engraved hammer, walnut half-stock with fluted flared butt, moulded iron butt-cap, set trigger with spurred guard and no provision for ramrod
