A .45-90 (WIN) LEVER-ACTION SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL '1886', serial no. 103899,
for 1896, with octagonal 26in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN CONN. U.S.A', nickel bladed fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, slab-sided receiver (slight traces of colour), faded blued bolt and hammer, top-tang marked 'MODEL 1886', walnut straight-hand butt-stock (cracked and chipped at head) with iron crescent heel-plate, iron finger-lever (slight traces of colour), walnut fore-end and colour hardened nose-cap (faded), fitted with a full-length tubular under-barrel magazine, dark patchy staining throughout, length 45in., weight approximately 9 3/4lbs.
