Swiss or German circa 1790 with later conversion to percussion, with two-stage 32 1/2in. barrels, applied boat-shaped fore-sight, the flat top-rib flush at the squared breech, broad top-tang engraved with flambé needles, flat locks retaining vestiges of pans and engraved with a rope-twist border, the right lock signed 'BEISS', the left 'IN HELM', dog safes mounted forwards of the hammers, walnut half-stock with relief-carved decoration around the top-tang, front and back of the raised cheek-piece and behind the ramrod throat, engraved brass furniture and probable replacement brass tipped wood ramrod
