circa 1840, with fully fluted 3 1/2in. barrel-group, the front centrally mounted with a six concave-sided 3 1/2in. bayonet tapering to a spike, moulded iron nipple-guard, border and scroll engraved rounded action signed 'D. Nixon, NEWARK in a panel on the left hand side and marked in a similar panel on the right 'IMPROVED REVOLVING PISTOL', engraved central bar-hammer, sliding safe to the top-tang, guarded trigger and smooth walnut bag-shaped grips to the border and scroll engraved iron frame (some bruising to wood), traces of finish
