circa 1860, with 3 3/8in. semi-octagonal nickel smooth-bore barrel (fore-sight bead rubbed flat), the left hand side with Birmingham proofs, iron nipple and central hammer to rear, the underside of pistol with folding trigger and folding 3 1/3in. false edged dagger blade etched along its length 'SELF PROTECTOR' (faint), the forte signed 'UNWIN & RODGERS, SHEFFIELD', nickel bolsters, provision for percussion cap storage in rear of butt, the horn side scales inlet at heel for a pair of tweezers and a small nickel ball-mould, both present
