A VERY RARE PATTERN 1907 BAYONET WITH QUILLION,
dated October 1910 with 17in. single-edged steel blade fullered on each side, ricasso stamped with 'crown / 1907 / 10 '10' with inspection marks, Broad Arrow and bend test 'X' over, maker marked 'E.F.D' for Enfield, steel cross-guard with quillion and muzzle-ring, wooden grips, pommel marked '1. EX / 683' for the 1st Essex Regiment together with its replacement brown leather scabbard marked 'MANGROVITE '42' with steel fittings, 22 1/2in. overall
Provenance: In 1915 all P1907 bayonets were ordered to have their quillions removed, the vendor believes that by family tradition this was recovered from a fallen Turkish soldier at Gallipoli
