A RARE .41 (RIMFIRE) FRANK WESSON 3RD TYPE LARGE FRAME SUPERPOSED PISTOL WITH SLIDING BAYONET, CIRCA 1875, no visible serial number,
with 3in. swivelling octagonal barrels both marked in one line 'FRANK WESSON, WORCESTER, MASS. PAT. DEC. 15, 1868, JULY 20, 1869', in the centre section between the two barrels is housed a sliding 1 1/2in. double edged dirk or small bayonet, brass frame with sheath trigger and two piece birdshead grips
Provenance: Pistols of this type were made by Frank Wesson circa 1868 to 1880 total quantity is estimated at just 2000 in .41 calibre
