A RARE ENGLISH 'THAMES RIVER POLICE SWORD' or 'HANGER',
manufactured between 1798 and 1840, with curving 23 1/2in. spear-point blade broadly fullered almost to the tip, false edged for the last 8 1/2in., squared forte, brass three-bar hilt with 'D' shaped knuckle-bow, sharkskin grip with wire binding and domed pommel, complete with its locking brass mounted leather scabbard (stitching undone on reverse)
