A GOOD .577/.450 MARTINI-HENRY MKII SERVICE RIFLE SIGNED BSA & M.Co., no visible serial number,
dated for 1878, with 33 1/4in. blued barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, slab-side receiver marked on the right with a 'V.R.' crown device over 'BSA & M.Co 1878' over a crown arrow and 'II', feed-ramp cleaned of finish, tear-drop cocking indicator, chequered thumb-rest depression, walnut butt-stock stamped with the 'BIRMINGHAM 'W.D' and broad arrow roundel over 'II' over 'I' and also stamped with a sold out of service arrow mark, blued finger-lever, full-length fore-end, bayonet bar, correct clearing rod and swivels, fitted with a later canvas sling, clear ordnance stamps throughout and retaining much probable original finish
