circa 1835, 36 3/4in. octagonal barrel with heavy multi-groove rifling, the top-flat signed 'SCHILLER, THALWEIL (sic)', dove-tailed fore-sight, socket for bayonet, (bayonet absent), elevating tangent rear-sight, plain colour hardened top-tang extending to the front of the comb, plain lock of flint form with dog safe behind the pierced reverse 'C' shaped dolphin-headed hammer, figured heavy walnut full-stock with angular raised cheek-piece inlet with a moustache-shaped escutcheon, iron swiss-style heel-plate, complex finger-grooved and spurred trigger guard, double set triggers, wingnut release for lock-plate, ramrod throat with squared tang, turned thimbles, wooden ramrod and three escutcheoned barrel keys, weight approx. 14lb. 12oz.
