dated for 1882, with ovoid 4 1/2in. barrel inscribed on the right side 'WILLIAM E. GAFFNEY, FROM HIS BROTHER FRANK, HAMILTON, VICTORIA 17/4/82' (rubbed), the top-strap signed 'JAMES W. ROSIER, 68 ELIZABETH ST. MELBOURNE' bisected by the sighting groove, period aftermarket broad dove-tailed bead fore-sight, an un-notched white-line auxiliary rear-sight fitted to rear of frame, crane-mounted ejector rod, solid frame marked 'WEBLEY'S R.I.C. No.1 .442 C.F.', plain six-shot cylinder with frontal locking notches, chequered walnut one-piece grip, double action mechanism and lanyard ring to the heel-plate, traces of finish, together with a period full-flap leather holster with some later modifications and working repairs
