A RARE .50 (BOXER) WEBLEY RIC REVOLVER RETAILED BY J. ROSIER, MELBOURNE, serial no. 12280,
circa 1875, with ovoid 4 1/2in. barrel, small crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap and signed either side 'JAMES W. ROSIER' and 'MELBOURNE', plain five-shot cylinder with front locking-notches, solid stepped frame with the 'winged bullet' trademark and 'WEBLEY PATENTS', spurred hammer and guarded trigger, chequered walnut semi saw-handled grip, heel-plate with lanyard ring, oval pull-piece to the ejector stored within the cylinder arbor, older refinish
Provenance: .50 Boxer is not recorded as a production calibre for the RIC model by Webley. However others are known with previously observed numbers being 12178, 12219 & 12305. All are identical to this example. A couple have also been noted in the 15,000 and 16,000 number range as well.
