for 1890, 24 1/4in. nitro reproved round barrel (in 2022), roll-stamped 'WINCHESTER-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN CT. KING'S-IMPROVEMENT. PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860.', and the calibre designation at the breech end, nickel-bladed dove-tailed fore-sight, adjustable buckhorn rear sight, slab-sided receiver with stepped front, the top strap marked 'MODEL 1873', automatic dust cover, retaining very slight traces of original blued finish, finger lever retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 12 1/2in. walnut straight hand butt-stock with iron crescent heel-plate with central trapdoor, walnut fore-end with steel nose cap, full-length tubular magazine, weight 7lb. 15oz.
